Impact of Course Material The course material has significantly broadened my understanding of social justice in health. I now recognize that social justice is not solely about access to healthcare but also encompasses the broader social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health outcomes. These factors, often referred to as the social determinants of health, play a crucial role in determining an individual's health status. I have learned that social justice in health involves addressing the root causes of health disparities, such as poverty, discrimination, and lack of education. It also requires challenging systemic inequalities that perpetuate health inequities. Observing Health Inequities in My Community I have witnessed several health inequities within my community. For example, I have observed that individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds have limited access to quality healthcare services, often relying on overcrowded public health facilities. Additionally, there are disparities in health outcomes based on race and ethnicity, with certain groups experiencing higher rates of chronic diseases and lower life expectancy. Furthermore, I have noticed that environmental factors, such as air pollution and lack of access to clean water, can significantly impact the health of individuals in my community. These inequities highlight the need for a more equitable and just healthcare system that addresses the social determinants of health.
