Social media use

The spatial self is not merely a by-product of social media use, but “intentional socio-cultural practices of self-presentation that result in dynamic, curated, sometimes idealized performances of who a user is, based on where they go’ (Schwartz & Halegoua 2015: 1647). Using examples critically explore and assess the ways in which the self is discursively constructed in contemporary mediatized cultures.
