Social Problems and the Role of the Human Services Professional

Build upon the social problem that you identified in the Unit 4 (I used substance abuse) Assignment and evaluate intervention resources in your community and throughout the world to combat this problem.
In this assignment, you are to:
Choose another First World Country that has dealt with the same social problem that you have selected. In 1-2 paragraphs, present some of the key facts regarding what that country has done to address the problem and what the result has been. Locate an agency in your community that deals with the social problem you have identified. Then, write a summary (at least 1 paragraph) of the services that agency provides. Be sure to identify the pros and cons of the services provided. Do NOT copy/paste from the agency's website. Remember to use in-text citations for all of your references. Next, in one page, present key facts and information about how this social problem has affected your community. Indicate, in detail using real-world examples and scenarios, what your community has done to combat the problem. Research your selected agency. Then, in one to two paragraphs per question, discuss what your selected agency has done for each of the following elements: What interventions have worked? What interventions have not worked? What (if any) new problems have arisen from the existing solutions? Based on your research, use one or two paragraphs to discuss what actions you think are needed to improve the social problem, and what solutions should be put in place. Use real-world examples. Identify two distinct human service professional positions at this agency and discuss their roles. Use a paragraph for each, providing information on the following: the level of education required of human services professionals at this agency, the job responsibilities of this position, the type of training needed to be successful in the role, and the types of training that are provided by the agency for ongoing personal and/or professional development. In another paragraph, explain how clients access the services the agency offers. For example, do they apply online. make an appointment over the phone, or go into the office to fill out paperwork? If this information is not available online, you need to call the agency directly and ask. Finally, in another paragraph, discuss some of the influences that might lead a family not to seek out services when they are affected by the selected social problem.
