Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) has taken the Coolfood Pledge!
As a Coolfood Pledge member, HMH has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with the food they serve by 25% by 2030. Coolfood members are guided through a strategic planning process to serve more climate friendly food, including plant-rich dishes, using a three-step approach: Pledge, Plan, and Promote.

Using the information learned about the Coolfood Pledge:

  1. Develop a Plan:
    a. Offer your creative suggestions to increase plant-rich recipes on both the retail and patient menus over the next few months (May – July). List your strategies.
  2. Design a Promotion:
    a. Create a PowerPoint slide deck (1-5 slides) explaining Hackensack’s foodservice approach or strategy in supporting the Coolfood Pledge over through July 2023.
    b. Develop a one-page overview of the Coolfood Pledge supporting your promotion, to be shared with staff, customers, and patients. May include tips, facts, challenges, a call to action – you decide.
