Terrain Analysis

Access to my ArcGIS account:
ksugis.maps.arcgis.com
login info will be available to the assigned writer
Please complete the tutorial exercises (projects) for Chapter 3. After each project is completed, there will be
either maps or non-map images (or both) that you would have created in ArcGIS 10.1 or higher. Thus, you will
submit each map or non-map as a Dropbox Assignment for each exercise (project) under the “Dropbox
Section” of the course. You will also be responsible for answering the questions (if any are associated with
each project) and these questions should be also submitted within your “Dropbox Assignment”. These two
tutorial exercises will be worth 30 points each for a total of 60 points. These assignments will continue to help in
preparation for your overall terrain analysis comprehension and optional extra credit final terrain analysis
research project, as we move forward toward the conclusion of this course.
Furthermore, as was the case with the tutorial exercises (projects) for Chapter 2 and before going onto the next
project, please make sure that you have exported each map or non-map image into a PDF file to be saved in a
folder somewhere on your own PC. Tutorial exercises can be saved and submitted using your name and the
exercise (project) for each tutorial exercise that you are referring to (such as “DaveSmith_Project_3_2”).
Instructions to export images from ArcGIS 10.1 or higher into PDF files can be located here, as a YouTube link
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJISH5ihTEQ) that you can upload and follow online.
In regards to ArcCatalog 10.1 or higher images that may be due at the end of an exercise subsection, you
cannot directly export these images into PDF files from ArcCatalog 10.1 or higher. Thus, with this in mind, you
can use a work around to submit this image as a PDF file. First, please press the “Print Screen” key on your
key board. Next, you can paste this image into a Microsoft Word document (Office 2007 and later) and save it
as a PDF file under the “Save As” function.
