it is an exam in 9:30 am Kuwait city time. The name of the class is the introduction to rhetorical studies. The book name is rhetoric in popular culture fifth edition by Barry Brummett. It will include two chapters 4 and 5. the questions will be picture analyzing and one short easy analyzing. I will need an instant response at the time of the exam. the questions include rhetoric analyzation of Marxist( materialism, bases, superstructure), feminist (silencing, lack in text of popular culture, empowerment, alternative rhetorical forms), culture centered criticism ( Afrocentricity, unity, harmony) psychoanalytic and media centered criticism.
This what my professor send it to the student. Gude line how to solve exam questions
Rhetorical Criticism is the practice of evaluating how colors, shapes, symbols, typefaces, constructions in language, and other rhetorical devices make meaning in our lives. When we engage in rhetorical criticism we are analyzing the symbolic acts of discourse or communication (words, phrases, images, gestures, performances, texts, films, etc.) to understand how they work, how well they work, and how the artifacts as discourse affect us, persuade us, entertain us as an audience.
Think about a moving poem or great speech you have read or heard - rhetorical criticism will give you the tools to figure out why it was great, and how its meaning was created. Sometimes we are mostly trying to understand an artifact (how effective was a speech in inspiring people?); while other times we are mostly trying to evaluate an artifact (is Barbie a feminist icon or a traditional female within patriarchal society?) – often we are doing both.
When responding to the prompts on your final exam, you may want to consider doing the following:
describe the artifact
detail your method(s) of criticism
report your findings (what does the artifact show/do/say)
provide analysis of those findings
suggest relevance/meaning
These websites suggest different ways to approach visual and verbal artifacts:
