B) Research Question (100 marks on rubric = 15 marks)
The goal of the longer answer question is to practice academic research and referencing. Answers should be provided with APA citations at the end of each sentence that contains an idea you read in a source.
The research questions requires a minimum of five (5) academic references. Of the 5 references at least two references must be peer-reviewed journal articles. Marks will be deducted if you do not have two peer-reviewed article properly referenced in APA format in your references list. Two is the required minimum (and more is better).

Before answering this question:
• consult the information posted online about the credibility of academic references
• consult information posted online about how to find peer-reviewed journal articles
• consult information posted online about referencing and citing in text
• consult information posted online about creating a thesis statement and the structure of essays

Using at least five academic sources (including two peer-reviewed journal articles), write an essay demonstrating that famines do not result from overpopulation, but from problems of access to food (three issues that contribute to lack of access to food).
At the end of your answer to this question, you should have a list of references (at least five academic sources in APA format). Your answer should be between 1200-1500 words.
The essay should include an introduction, a thesis statement that explains your argument and the three issues, the body of your essay that discusses the three issues, and a conclusion that re-states the thesis statement and summarizes each of the three issues.
So the outline is: an introduction, discuss the first access to food issue, discuss the second access to food issue, discuss the third access to food issue, and review the main points in the conclusion.
Each of the three access to food issues should have a descriptive bold-faced heading (not “Access to Food Issue #1” or “Main body #1”, but “Government Corruption” or something descriptive).
Ensure you thoroughly cite your work (using APA) at the end of each sentence that contains an idea from a source.
