  1. Utilizing the anatomical models, differentiate the characteristic differences between the epidermis and dermis. Please note your observations below:
  2. Locate the histological slides of the skin and utilizing a microscope, differentiate the characteristic differences between the epidermis and dermis. Please note your observations below:
  3. Using a toothpick, softly scrape epithelial cells from your own body to onto a blank slide. Dry skin around your elbows or the inside of your cheek are common places to easily access loose epithelial cells. Your instructor will help you dye your cells if necessary. Please note your observations below:
  4. (Optional) Pull a hair from your head or arm and tape it to a slide. Examine the root of the hair shaft. You may also find it interesting to examine the difference between hair found on your arm, head, and/or beard.
