Initial Impressions and Challenges:

My initial impression was that Ms. A was experiencing significant anxiety and possibly depression. Her withdrawn demeanor and constricted affect suggested internalizing symptoms. Her difficulty focusing could be attributed to anxiety, depression, or a combination of both. A primary challenge was establishing rapport and building trust, as she seemed hesitant to share her experiences. This is consistent with research highlighting the importance of therapeutic alliance in engaging clients with anxiety and depression (Horvath & Bedi, 2002).
