The development from the intuition into the dignity of persons via thinking

Description

Essay topic: We have explored and developed the sources of the dignity of persons. Some of those sources, or reasons why people have dignity, are intrinsic to persons and a few are extrinsic yet related to persons. Some are alienable and others are inalienable, and some are communicable, and there is also the incommunicability of persons and the subjectivity of persons.

  1. Trace the development from the intuition into the dignity of persons via thinking about violations of persons to the formulations of those intuitions into propositions that capture the reality our feelings are responding to.
  2. Next, explain as many of the various specific sources of the dignity of persons, based on the distinctions mentioned, as you can. You could include in your essay the distinction between ontology, axiology, and ethics.
  3. After finishing the main portion of the essay, write a concluding paragraph or two sharing some substantial thoughts of your own on the topic, and also be sure to include one or more connections that you see between the Crosby, Seifert, and Colosi readings and Ghost Boy. For example, you could say how you think this topic of human dignity relates to life or morality, you could agree/disagree with (and explain why) or develop anything the authors said, you could raise a question about the dignity of persons that struck you and comment on it, or you could just explain in general how this concept of the dignity of persons strikes you and whether you had ever considered it before.

Requirements: For this paper, you must include 4 quotations from at least 2 of the philosophy readings listed in the Resources for Module 5 and 1 quotation from Ghost Boy (for a total of 5 quotations). Your quotations should be properly cited.
