The early Texas constitutions

From our origins as a state in the United States of Mexico up today, Texas has had a series of constitutions. Each constitution was a reflection of the ideas of the people of that time on what framework of government should be in place. Before you answer the following essay, take time to review both Chapters 1 and 2 taking special note of the main provisions of each constitution and how Texas has changed from the date we ratified our current constitution compared to Texas today.

What are some of the common characteristics of the early Texas constitutions and how were they different? How does out current constitution compare (both similarities and differences) with these earlier constitutions. To what extent would you agree with the critics of the current constitution that it is an antiquated 19th century document governing a modern 21st century state and in need of reform? Explain your position.
