The Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. The museum hours will be easy to find at www.mopa.org. The museum has a "pay as much as you want to pay" so long as you pay something. So in essence it is free but I ask you not to take unfair advantage of that…as even if you paid $10, you would only be paying 1/10 of the cost of giving you that experience.
I want you to tell more than the following suggestions…What is the show about? What are individual artists trying to communicate? Is there an "Australian style" of shooting? Is it different from American or European work? Is that related to geography? Culture? Who are these artists? (not only their names. Take two of these photographers and go into some depth comparing their work to each other. Does the work communicate with other more historical work you have seen? If so, who made those pictures? What are the major concerns of these artists? Whose work do you particularly respond to? Why?
