The film Who Killed the White Llama

Came out the same year Evo Morales became president of Bolivia. A hit film in the country, it also marked a shift in the country’s politics and expressions of identity within Bolivia. The comedy is rooted in stereotypes that Bolivians have about themselves, not all of which you may get, and reflects social divides – regional and ethnic – that have driven politics for the years preceding the movie and which you can see in the rivalries and conflicts that have defined the current era that was until recently dominated by Morales. If you don’t understand all of the humor or slang, don’t worry, and try to look for things you know about Bolivian politics reflected in the movie.
