Sample Solution

The French Revolution was a major event in the history of France and had wide-reaching social, political, and economic implications. It lasted from 1789 to 1799 and is generally divided into five distinct stages.

1) The Moderate Phase (1789–1791): This stage of the revolution began with the storming of the Bastille Fortress prison on 14 July 1789 which marked the start of an uprising against King Louis XVI’s government. During this phase, reforms were enacted such as abolishing feudalism and privileges held by aristocrats, clergymen, and other elites. As a result of these changes there was widespread support for a constitutional monarchy that would be governed through elected representatives.
