THE "GAMES" IN ROMAN AND MODERN TIMES

Some would assert that Roman Emperors, like Thus and Domitian, who used Gladiators, chariot races music, lotteries, and free food to keep the Roman masses at bay, are no different from our own political and social elites using mass spectator sports (football, boxing, auto racing, etc.), rock concerts, and various forms of distraction to neutralize the modem public.
