The Human Rights Campaign ( https://www.hrc.org/Links to an external site.) was founded by Steve Endean in 1980 as one of the first gay and lesbian
political action committees in the United States. In recent years, the HRC has been associated with marriage equality and other civil rights protections for
gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals. HRC is currently advocating for full Federal protection for the civil rights of LGBT individuals.
They note, for example, that while LGB individuals have Federal protection for marriage equality, many can still legally be evicted from their housing for no
reason other than that they are LGB. Review the website and find out what the laws are in your state and one other state for comparison (Ex: I could pick CA
and TX, the two states where I have lived). Could that (being evicted for being LGB) happen in your state? Do you believe full Federal protection is necessary?
Why or why not? Be sure to reference concepts from class in your response paper.
