In this assignment, you need to explain the main factors that lie behind a country’s successful (or unsuccessful) economic and/or social devleopment trajectory after the 1960s. You can NOT choose a case before the 1960s. Step 1. Choose a country OR a region that has either experienced an impressive development success since the 1960s OR a puzzling stagnation and/or downfall in terms of development and present sufficient data to make your case about why the country/region you choose is appropriate and interesting, (you need to do some research to construct this puzzle-useful sources are provided below) Step 2. Explain the most important internal AND external factors responsible for the success or failure, Step 3. Discuss which explanation you find more convincing and why.
