When we communicate what are we doing? Well, by definition we are engaging in a process of sending and receiving messages. Others would say that we are creating shared meaning. Communicating seems as normal to us as breathing. We seem designed to be living and walking communicators. When did you learn to communicate? Do you remember — of course not? You were born communicating. Have you ever heard of a baby that never cried?

Module 1 Discussion 1:1 Considering that "you cannot not communicate" is a function of our humanity, please explain why it does matter or should matter to you. What is this principle's effect on those around you, and further how should it cause you to think differently about your own communication?
