If you're not familiar with Ta-Nehisi Coates' writing prior to Black Panther, please read this excerpt from his award-winning and bestselling book Between the World and Me. For many readers, including novelist Toni Morrison, this book is a seminal text in its deconstruction of racism and the toll racism takes on both the black body and the black psyche. From this excerpt, you will get a sense of Coates' style and voice in this non-fiction genre of writing.
