The Oresteia
Order Description
write a defense (or a рroseсution) summation of one of the сharacters in the Oresteia.
For example - if you are defending Agamemnon , Orestes defends his father in LIBATION BEARERS and there is also testimony in EUMENIDES - plus one could look at events in AGAMEMNON from several directions. Although the view of hims in THE ILIAD is of a vain, blustering, arrogant man - the tale his ghost tells to Odysseus in the Odyssey is heart rending and puts him in a compassionate light. Did he walk on the sacred fabric because of ego or to try to appease his wife.... he does tell the trroops in THE ILIAD that he prefers his war prize/love slave to his wife..but this was not so unusual at the time...
If you feel for Aegisthus - there is the whole back story of the curse on the House of Atreus - of familial hubris (including Pelops trying to feed his son to the gods) that Aegisthus has inherited.
