The presence of African American history in today's society

One theme that has continuously been highlighted in this course is the presence of African American history in today's society, whether it be cultural remnants/norms or systems of racial oppression that persist. Many people view historical study as benign or passive--simply learning of the past. What I hope is made clear through this course is that African American history is not simply past. Activists from Du Bois to Malcolm X believed that the education of Black history was the first step towards uprooting racism. Drawing on this semester's reading material and lectures, write a 200-300 word post considering the following question in your response:
