In Prof. Sienkewicz’ article ‘The Web of Myth Theory,’ he uses the example of Penelope's loom in Homer's
Odyssey as a way to think about the different ways that people can think about this particular story in the myth
of Odysseus. In the Odyssey, Penelope is able to hold off those who want to marry her after the disappearance
of Odysseus by promising them an answer after she weaves the burial shroud of her father-in-law. At night,
though, she undoes her work and start anew the next morning, thereby buying herself (and Odysseus) time.
Describe one approach described by Seinkewicz that you found useful, and one approach that you thought
wasn't particularly useful, in understanding any potential deeper meaning to this story.
