Basically in this order, but however you want to organize it, I want you to choose an essay that you have already completed and then:
- Explain the process of how you went about writing/drafting/completing the essay (including the 3 stages of the writing process, an alternative or personal writing process, problems or difficulties encountered with that process, and how you incorporated
feedback in your revisions if applicable). - Critique your writing process in this essay (what worked well and what needs improvement; you can discuss if you considered or put into practice any of the suggestions from Writing With Power and/or The Norton Sampler).
- Identify and examine the specific expository mode (or modes) you used in the essay (narration, description, definition, classification, comparison and contrast, process analysis, causation€” â€first this happened, then this happened€ etc.
- Critique/reflect on your use of the various (specific and general) modes of expository writing in the essay (what was effective and what possibly needs improvement€”how or why in both instances).
