Write an essay in response to the following prompt. In your essay, be sure to make explicit references and connections to our texts. Keep in mind that you are writing an essay that is analytical and persuasive and that you need to take a position and argue a point of view, not merely summarize a text without offering examples from the text to support your own argument. Many of our texts this semester have dealt with the theme of death. Compare and contrast the treatment of death in two of the texts we worked with so far (fairy tales count) and consider how children’s literature versus adult literature confronts the theme of death. The texts that you will be using are "Charlotte s Web" by E.B White, "Red Riding Hood" and "Esperanza Rising" by Pam Muñoz Ryan.
