Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are chronic diseases that affect the body’s ability to produce or properly utilize insulin. Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile onset diabetes, occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, while type 2 diabetes is caused by a combination of inadequate production and/or inefficient use of insulin by the body. Symptoms of both types of diabetes include excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue and blurred vision.
