Typographic Salad & Color Strategy

Items to Complete for Week 1 of Typo Salad and Color Exploration
This is a two week project (March 29 - April 12) consisting of explorations/exercises leading up to a final
composition. For week 1, you will follow the guidelines for explorations in 1-7 to submit 13 explorations:

  1. Create a 6" x 6" square grid with (4) 1.5" squares across and down, 16 squares in total. (see #1 below)
  2. Choose the first letter of your first OR last name and one typeface and mask/crop inside the square. (see #2
    below)
  3. Repeat the square for each of the 15 remaining squares and delete the lines around each square. (see #3
    below)
  4. Arrange the letter in each square to achieve a consistent textural composition. (see #4 below) SAVE THIS

    5A. Change positions of letter in each square, without changing size to make a DENSE composition. (see #5

    5B. Change positions of letter in each square, without changing size to make a SPARSE composition. (see #5

    6A. Choose only one from exercise 5, the dense OR sparse composition, to make a STRONG value contrast

  5. Choose only one composition from exercise 6, to explore 8 color strategies as follows: High Key, Low Key,
    Complimentary, Split Complimentary, Analogous, Triad, Warm or Cool, Monochromatic. (see # 7 below and
    color sheet as reference) SAVE EIGHT COLOR COMPOSITIONS
