For this portion of the rationale essay, you should focus on explaining how the courses listed in your degree program:
(1) meet the Area of Study Guidelines for Science, Mathematics and Technology. You may mention courses already addressed in the section on Professional requirements, as there may be some overlap here. Just be sure that you are addressing these courses in the context of meeting the AOS guidelines you read about in this module.
(2) add breadth to your program by fulfilling the SUNY General Education Requirements. Explain how some of these courses relate to your concentration as prerequisites or somehow tie into the field you desire to enter.
Explain how other courses provide a different prospective or encourage a different way a thinking. Explain how
these courses work together to create a breadth of learning. Refer to your reading to review the types of
questions to answer in your discussion of academic expectations, as well as to the page Writing about
Academic Expectations, which summarizes information that can be addressed.
You should write two to three well-written paragraphs on academic expectations for obtaining an associate's degree through Empire State College and how the courses in your degree program will satisfy these
requirements. Because these are specific guidelines that were considered in the formation of your degree
program with standardized CAHE credits you should start by using the guide in the document titled AOS and
GenEd Guide. Follow the instructions in this document to complete this section and add it to your REVISED
paragraphs from Module 2. Your revised paragraphs should be based on my feedback in Module 2.
