https://pressbooks.ccconline.org/worldmythology-cccs/
In this project, you will have the opportunity to be creative by composing your own Hero’s Journey in your own words, using the 17-stage template devised by Joseph Campbell and explained in-depth in the Module 5 Exploration. Additionally, you have the option of submitting this project as either a video speech, a narrated slide show, or as a written narrative. See below for details.
Please follow these guidelines:
Of the 17 stages identified by Campbell, be sure to use all of the stages in the Departure and Initiation phases, and use only the stages needed from the Return phase.
Please do not label where your stages are in the story; these should be self-evident and easily identifiable based on their content and placement in your story.
Please include a hero character (does not necessarily have to be male), a goddess or temptress character (does not necessarily have to be female), and a father or mentor figure (does not necessarily have to be male).

Refusal of the Call
Drawn by an irresistible force, Ayla approached the tree, her hand trembling as she reached out to touch its bark. A surge of energy coursed through her veins, and she was overwhelmed by a vision of her tribe's impending doom. Their connection to the spirit world was fading, their healing powers were waning, and their very existence was threatened.
Meeting with the Mentor
As Ayla grappled with the weight of this revelation, a wise old woman emerged from the shadows of the cave. She introduced herself as Ixchel, the guardian of the ancient tree, and explained that Ayla had been chosen to save her tribe. Ixchel offered to be Ayla's mentor, guiding her on a perilous journey to restore the tribe's connection to the spirit world.
Crossing the Threshold
With Ixchel by her side, Ayla embarked on her quest, leaving behind the familiar world of her tribe. They ventured deep into the rainforest, facing treacherous terrain, hostile creatures, and the ever-present threat of the spirit world's wrath.
Tests, Allies, and Enemies
Along their journey, Ayla encountered a series of trials, each designed to test her courage, resilience, and connection to the spirit world. She befriended a mischievous jaguar spirit, who became her loyal companion, and faced off against a malevolent spirit of the storm, who sought to thwart her mission.
Approach to the Inner Cave
Finally, Ayla and Ixchel reached the heart of the rainforest, where the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds was thin. They stood before a towering waterfall, its cascading waters concealing a hidden cave, the gateway to the spirit world.
Ordeal
Ayla prepared for the ultimate test, stepping into the depths of the waterfall, entering the spirit world. She found herself in a realm of swirling colors and ethereal beings, facing the embodiment of the tribe's fading connection to the spirit world.
Reward
Through her courage and determination, Ayla emerged victorious, restoring the tribe's connection to the spirit world. The ancient tree's glow intensified, bathing the rainforest in a revitalizing energy.
The Road Back
With the spirit world's connection restored, Ayla and Ixchel returned to her tribe, their hearts filled with hope and gratitude. The tribe rejoiced at Ayla's return, celebrating her as their savior.
Resurrection
Ayla returned to her tribe a transformed woman, her connection to the spirit world stronger than ever. She shared her knowledge with her people, teaching them to live in harmony with nature and revere the ancient wisdom of their ancestors.
Return with the Elixir
Ayla's journey had not only saved her tribe but had also awakened her own inner potential. She became a beacon of hope and wisdom, her legacy forever etched in the hearts of her people.
