Develop a deeper and practical understanding of theories of grief and loss as they apply to grief counselling and the relevance to two populations or sub-populations.
Process:
Demonstrate your understanding of how to work with grief and loss as a counsellor or psychotherapist. Drawing upon at least two grief and loss theories explored in the course; critically review, interrogate and synthesise these ideas to form a conceptualisation of grief and loss counselling by addressing ways these models provide adequate conceptualisations of how best to work with the grief experienced by members of these populations? What are some of the shortfalls or strengths? Apply your understanding to working with the grief or loss experienced by two populations, characterising the experiences of grief and loss, and reaction to grief and loss, common to these populations.” These populations could include; identities based on gender identity, age group, role (e.g., parent), occupation, race/culture or those who have experienced a specific scenario (e.g. those who have experienced stillborn, suicide survivor, complex trauma, chronic illness).
