In class, we have talked about various aspects of poverty, focusing both on the individual and on the macro economy.   How much do individual, cultural and macro factors help in understanding poverty? The assumption in this question is that you will select some aspects of what has been discussed in class and in the readings and videos and talk about the relative importance of individual, cultural and macro factors in explanation.  You should draw from more than reading, and lecture in answering this question. 2. How does the suburbanization of poverty complicate our understandings of poverty? In answering this question, you should pay attention to the differences in the reasons for suburban and urban poverty, the role of place in structuring opportunities for those who are poor and the differences in the composition of the urban and suburban poor populations.
