Recall an experience you have had as an adult in a first-time encounter with a public or private human services organization or agency. The “encounter” could have been in any role and you do not need to identify your role. (For example, you could have visited the agency or organization as a job applicant, as a student interviewing for a field placement, as an advocate for a client, as a family member of a client, as a client yourself, etc.).

A. Identify the agency only by type, not by name (e.g., nonprofit organization serving families of children with special needs or public agency providing services to older adults, etc.

B. In light of your encounter, identify one or two indicators of the organization’s cultural or linguistic competence.

C. Identify at least one area in which the organization could improve in cultural or linguistic competence.

D. Explain where your observations fit in the subscales of the CLCPA.
