Using public health to promote peace and well-being

It introduces the idea of a ‘public health framework’ to promote peace, health and prevent further violence in times of crises and conflicts. It also describes multiple levels of preventive interventions that can aid in promoting health, peace and well-being of populations.
Apply the concepts from the Jong, J. T. (2010) article to respond to the assignment questions. In addition to this article, you should draw from other readings, viewings and podcasts to supplement your response, and conduct your own research. Limit the length of your responses to no more than 500 words for each question. Support your responses with references as appropriate, you can cite up to 5 articles per response. Format and reference citation must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style. A title page and abstract are not required. References are not included in the word limit.
Assignment questions

  1. Comment on the necessity of a public health framework, such as the one presented in the article, to address the risk and protective factors of violence?
  2. Discuss the challenges in applying such a framework on a global scale taking into consideration the various indicators of collapse and conflict?
  3. From a public health perspective, what do you think can be done to address these challenges?
