Vaccination Outreach Networks Activity

Public health emergencies require strategic preparedness and rapid response from public health organizations. In next week's assignment, you will prioritize actions to respond to a Monkeypox outbreak. In this activity, you describe the role of a chosen public health agency or organization to combat such an outbreak as well as key organizations that will partner with them.

Preparation
Choose and research a public health care agency/organization located in your state, county, or city that is involved in public vaccination efforts. As you examine your organization, consider the key partners and stakeholders that will aid in the efforts as well as the organization's mission, personnel, and population served.

Instructions

Part 1: The Organization
Describe the following aspects of your chosen organization/agency as they relate to immunization programs or efforts.
Mission.
Summary of services.
Population served.
Role (What contributions does the organization make to local vaccination efforts? How do they work with other organizations to provide this service?)
Key organizational leadership staff/positions.
Part 2: Partner Organizations
Describe three partner organizations that are essential to the vaccination drive and outline their respective functional roles and responsibilities associated with it. Some examples are churches, federal agencies, hospitals, Non-governmental organizations, other government agencies, et cetera.

Targeted Outreach & Trust Building: Since Mpox disproportionately affects specific networks, partnering with established community-based organizations is critical for effective messaging and uptake. Their role is to: Disseminate accurate, non-stigmatizing information about vaccine eligibility and safety. Host vaccination clinics within a trusted and familiar community space. Facilitate scheduling for priority groups and provide feedback on public health messaging effectiveness.Targeted Outreach & Trust Building: Since Mpox disproportionately affects specific networks, partnering with established community-based organizations is critical for effective messaging and uptake. Part 2: Partner Organizations for Mpox Vaccination Drive

Combating an Mpox outbreak requires a coordinated effort between the Public Health Department and external stakeholders to ensure rapid, equitable, and effective vaccine delivery to high-risk groups.

Partner OrganizationFunctional Role & Responsibilities in Vaccination Drive
1. State Department of Health (SDOH)Resource Allocation & Policy: The SDOH is the primary entity that receives the JYNNEOS vaccine stock from federal agencies (e.g., CDC/ASPR). Their role is to: Distribute the county's allocated vaccine supply to MCDPH. Issue state-level clinical guidance (eligibility criteria, dosing schedules). Provide funding for surge staffing and supplies (e.g., needles, syringes, PPE).
2. Community Health Centers (CHCs)Equitable Access & Direct Administration: CHCs serve high-risk and medically underserved communities, building deep trust with populations that may distrust government-run sites. Their role is to: Administer the vaccine directly to their established patient base (often the identified high-risk groups). Use existing clinical infrastructure for scheduling, billing, and follow-up. Provide culturally sensitive outreach and vaccine education.
