"We're Gonna Die" by Young Jean Lee
Construct a literary analysis essay about "We're Gonna Die" by Young Jean Lee HERE IS THE INSTRUCTIONS: What do you think the play/performance, We’re Gonna Die, asks of you, as a viewer? What major theme is the play trying to impart? How does the text and performance ask this of you? What purpose do the songs serve, in all this? You are, essentially, expanding your journal entry on Young Jean Lee’s play in response to this. You should feel free to use “I” when making your argument, and feel free to reference moments or scenes in the performance itself. You must include carefully selected quotes (at least four) from the play and the supporting articles (at least one), using introductory phrases and in-text citation methods, and unpacking each quote (sandwich quotation methods). You should pick examples and evidence that best help you make your case. You may also incorporate quotes from your colleagues’ journals if you feel that is relevant (but you should still use sandwich quotation methods!). There should be an introduction wherein you state what the play, overall, seem to be “about” (its theme), body paragraphs that follow PIE logic (showing unity and development in each paragraph), and a conclusion. The conclusion, typically, will answer, “so, what?”-- letting you drive home the main point for the reader, and why they should care.
