To clarify further what the topic of "free will" means, these
particular questions come to mind that I'd be interested in hearing your
responses to--- While acknowledging that we do intuitively seem to be
in command of our own destiny in regard to what we decide to do and who
we become in our lives, do we we actually deliberately decide and
control:
---when / how/ who we fall in love (fall in love
with)?--or even who we're attracted to (eg; blonds vs brunettes, sexual
preference, etc)? (Can we just deliberately choose to NOT love people who we love--our children, parents, etc?)
---what our taste in clothes, design, music, food is?
---what we like to do for fun / hobbies / career --or why we like these things as opposed to other things we don't like?
---what we ultimately value (eg; family vs career, money, material possessions,
religious faith, etc) as opposed to things we don't value as much?
OR
are these preferences, tastes, values, etc, that just kind of 'happen'
to us--We just find that we like /don't like / have no interest/ etc, in
them without ever actually making any conscious decision at all? Can we
'control' these things at all?--And if not, what does that say about
how much free will we really have?
