Order Description
This is an essay assignment for a Management Information Systems module which is one of the modules on my MBA studies. I found this particular module to be in" rel="nofollow">incredibly
dull and borin" rel="nofollow">ing as it's highly theoretical so I'm seekin" rel="nofollow">ing help in" rel="nofollow">in order to complete it. To help me here you need to use one of the in" rel="nofollow">information systems theories
discussed in" rel="nofollow">in the module handbook (attached) and talk about consequences of in" rel="nofollow">introducin" rel="nofollow">ing an MIS system in" rel="nofollow">in a company through the lens of that theory. I would use either
Labour Process Theory or Actor Network Theory (LPT and its relevance to IS is explain" rel="nofollow">ined in" rel="nofollow">in the module handbook - sections 1a and 1b, ANT is explain" rel="nofollow">ined in" rel="nofollow">in section 4a).
Feel free to use real life case studies to illustrate your argument (e.g. company X in" rel="nofollow">introduced an MIS system and observed such and such consequences and phenomenons
when it was implemented. It's mostly about the distribution of power between management and a regular employee and about management retain" rel="nofollow">inin" rel="nofollow">ing control over workforce
through MIS. Please use US spellin" rel="nofollow">ing and Harvard referencin" rel="nofollow">ing style. Essay should be broken down to parts or sections clearly outlin" rel="nofollow">inin" rel="nofollow">ing the issue bein" rel="nofollow">ing discussed. The
structure should not disrupt the flow of the essay. Origin" rel="nofollow">inal assignment in" rel="nofollow">instructions are below and are also attached in" rel="nofollow">in the MITS Feb17.pdf file.
Assignment Question:
With reference to one or more theories discussed in" rel="nofollow">in the module, what are the possible consequences of in" rel="nofollow">introducin" rel="nofollow">ing a company-wide Management Information System in" rel="nofollow">into an
organisation?
Approachin" rel="nofollow">ing the question:
You are remin" rel="nofollow">inded that whilst some questions may very evidently refer to a particular unit they are all designed to span issues across the entire module. A full answer
to the question will require reflection on the issues that you have encountered throughout the module. It is important to bear in" rel="nofollow">in min" rel="nofollow">ind that the content of your answer
will depend on the argument that you wish to put forward in" rel="nofollow">in answer to the question and not solely on the concepts that the question explicitly identifies.
The question in" rel="nofollow">invites you to apply one or more theories discussed in" rel="nofollow">in the module to an understandin" rel="nofollow">ing of how an MIS may change life in" rel="nofollow">inside an adoptin" rel="nofollow">ing organisation.
Labour Process Theory and Actor Network Theory stress the impact on power relations whilst other theories (technologies of representation) also consider how an MIS may
offer an unrealistic or distorted picture of how organisations actually work in" rel="nofollow">in practice.
