Women in the 20's

Th following post has two assignments namely;

1.women in the 20's

Developing an historical understanding of the social and cultural position of women in the 1920s is apparently quite a complex task. One of your author's states that in order to historically understand women in the 1920s a distinction would have to be made between image and reality. But, image and reality do not seem to be separate; instead they seem to overlap. The sources that you have available illustrate that much of the complexity of writing an historical understanding of women in the 1920s is due to the fact that the historian must interpret a variety of sources, from fiction to sociological essays to advertisements to later historical literature.

Directions: Watch the documentary and answer the following questions in essay format. A minimum of two pages, double spaced, Times New Roman font, and a title page are required. 1) What are some of the challenges that the students featured in the documentary faced? Select at least two of the students featured in the documentary and include their names, a short summary of their experience, and the outcome of their experience in college. 2) Discuss in detail something new that you learned from the documentary. 3) At colleges like ASU and the University of West Kentucky, most of the classes were presented as being dominated by students who were just “sleepwalking” or “treading water” rather than challenging themselves. Do you think colleges should let students slide by? Why or why not? 4) Do you think it is possible for a mature, motivated student to get a good education even when stuck in an environment where many students are content to just slide by? 5) In your final paragraph, discuss thoughts on the value of a college education. What motivates your decision to pursue a college degree? How will you keep yourself motivated when you feel stressed and overwhelmed?
