World Populations

Today there are 195 sovereign countries in" rel="nofollow">in the world that are officially recognized. One can choose to look at many types of data comin" rel="nofollow">ing from these countries, as there is a plethora of existin" rel="nofollow">ing in" rel="nofollow">information. For this assignment you will be lookin" rel="nofollow">ing at populations of cities within" rel="nofollow">in Chin" rel="nofollow">ina at three different times (dependin" rel="nofollow">ing on when a census was taken). The data for these cities can be found in" rel="nofollow">in the file named Populations (attached below). Use all of the data poin" rel="nofollow">ints for each of the years given, but please note that not every city has a population for each census. Prepare a report (see below) usin" rel="nofollow">ing the numerical methods of descriptive statistics presented in" rel="nofollow">in this module to show how the populations of the cities vary over the years (growth rates). Be sure to in" rel="nofollow">include the followin" rel="nofollow">ing three (3) items in" rel="nofollow">in your report. Compute descriptive statistics for each of the years along with an explanation of what the descriptive statistics tell us about the different years. Are they contin" rel="nofollow">inually growin" rel="nofollow">ing, or is there a decrease in" rel="nofollow">in the number of people? The descriptive statistics will in" rel="nofollow">include the mean, mode, range, standard deviation, and the 5-number summary (min" rel="nofollow">inimum, first quartile (Q1), median (Q2), third quartile (Q3), and maximum). Determin" rel="nofollow">ine which cities, if any, should be considered outliers in" rel="nofollow">in each of the years? If there are any outliers in" rel="nofollow">in any year, please list them and state for which year each one is an outlier. Use the z-score method to determin" rel="nofollow">ine outliers for this question showin" rel="nofollow">ing the z-score calculations for each city and year in" rel="nofollow">in your spreadsheet. Determin" rel="nofollow">ine the correlation coefficient between the first year and each of the other years. Please provide an explanation of the relationships. Show your calculations for each correlation coefficient within" rel="nofollow">in the spreadsheet. Write a report that uses the Written Assignment Requirements under the headin" rel="nofollow">ing Expectations for CSU-Global Written Assignments found in" rel="nofollow">in the CSU-Global Guide to Writin" rel="nofollow">ing and APA. Items that should be in" rel="nofollow">included, at a min" rel="nofollow">inimum, are a title page, an in" rel="nofollow">introduction, a body which answers the questions posed in" rel="nofollow">in the problem, and a conclusion paragraph that addresses your fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings and what you have determin" rel="nofollow">ined from the data and your analysis. As with all written assignments, you should have in" rel="nofollow">in-text citations and a reference page. Please in" rel="nofollow">include any tables of calculations, calculated values, and graphs associated with this problem in" rel="nofollow">in the body of your assignment response.
