SCENARIO
In the last year you have taken measures to reduce your personal environmental footprint to help reduce the impacts of climate change and increase the planet’s sustainability. This took some reflection, and you’ve had to change some of your habits, but after several months you are feeling quite used to the changes. For example, you avoid using plastic and buying items with synthetic fabrics. Heck, you even recycle more! And instead of throwing out things when they don’t work as well, tear or get broken, you figure out a way to repair them. You’ve even started walking and cycling instead of using your car for short trips. Now, you’re wondering if the company you work for can do more by way of ethical and sustainable practices.
Recently, you also saw a short video clip about a “Pay What You Feel” model of buying food, which highlights the Rescued Food Market in Vancouver. (Read the FAQs at the bottom of the website page.) The model helps reduce food waste while increasing people’s access to food. Learning about the program and its benefits gave you an idea and you’d like the company where you work to give something similar a try. Most of the employees that work at the organization buy their meals and snacks from the company’s cafeteria downstairs. The food is really good but there are many products left over at the end of each day. And from what you can tell, it just gets thrown out. You know now that this is a huge waste. Obviously, this isn’t good for anyone, or the planet. My goodness, anyone can see from the news that all over the Lower Mainland there are growing numbers of people who struggle to afford quality food and housing. It got you thinking and you wonder if there is a better way to deal with the leftover food in the company cafeteria. Maybe it could be donated to the Rescued Food Market.
You think some of your co-workers would most likely work as a team with you to start a program like this. All the team would need is a few resources to put together a plan. You are sure the team could come up with a program that would work for the employees and the people running the store.

Invent any other information you need to create an effective email message, without changing the intended meaning. When writing your message, determine what wording and information to delete from the original scenario above.
As much as possible, use your own words; don’t copy from the scenario above. Since some of the scenario isn't written well, or is unnecessary for your message, part of your task is to determine what words to omit.
Your message will be marked for content (ideas, details), format, organization, style/tone, and mechanics, including grammar and spelling. Use revision strategies to revise your message to ensure it’s concise and cohesive. Edit to eliminate grammar and spelling errors.
