Written report about Creative Arts in Early Childhood Education
Order Description
1. Rationale for the inclusion of the creative arts in early years education (500 words)
Why are creative arts experiences important for young children and how do young children benefit from these experiences? In this section you must refer to the academic literature as listed in the unit outline and the Early Years Learning Framework (DEEWR, 2009) and include links to relevant theory and research studies as evidence to support your discussion. You must link to academic research.
2. Supporting and extending young children’s authentic engagement in the arts (875 words)
In this section you will demonstrate how you will support and extend young children’s authentic engagement in the arts in an early childhood setting such as a professional experience placement.
Select either INFANTS (aged 6 weeks to 18 months) OR TODDLERS (18 months to 36 months) and for TWO of the FOUR art areas (i.e. visual art, music, dance and drama):
a. Outline ways competencies in the arts are demonstrated (by infants OR toddlers) at home, in the community and in the early childhood setting;
b. Identify and explain teaching strategies which you will use to support and extend the arts competencies of infants OR toddlers. Insert visual images of resources and play environments which demonstrate the implementation of the EYLF (DEEWR, 2009) and best practice in early childhood education. These images can be photos of resources and environments you have created or collected yourself or images downloaded from the internet (with correct APA referencing and acknowledgement).
