Sample Solution

This patient is a 45-year-old male who has been experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath for the past two weeks. He reports he has had no prior history of heart disease but does have a family history of coronary artery disease. Upon physical examination, his vital signs are within normal limits with no significant findings on exam. An EKG and lab work were done which revealed an elevated Troponin level along with ST segment depression in multiple leads; this was suggestive of myocardial ischemia. The patient was admitted to the hospital for further observation and testing including cardiac enzymes, echocardiogram, stress test, etc. After evaluation by cardiology it was determined that the patient did have coronary artery disease and underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Following the PCI, the patient made a successful recovery and was able to be discharged home on follow up medications for management of his condition
