Community Health
All nurses should to be able to knowledgeably plan services for a community. It is essential to know your
specific community, identify health-related resources that may be helpful to community members, and
learn about gaps in services. Collect data about your community using the attached tools then write a
paper outlining the areas listed below.
Once your data is collected submit a paper identifying:
- Describe your community (geographic, population, income, etc)
- How safe is your community? (crime rates, disaster preparedness, etc)
- How healthy is your community? (common health related problems, mortality rate by age, etc)
- What resources are available to address health problems for the community’s most vulnerable
populations?
