have marks deducted for delayed submission).
Plagiarism
You are allowed to work on this weekly diary believing that you will do the work on your own and will not resort to plagiarism (because it is unacceptable to the UAEU,

like any other educational institution).
‘Plagiarism’ (literary or intellectual theft) refers to the practice of taking someone else’s ideas or work without acknowledgment.  It can take a number of forms,

including:
•    Copying the work of another student (in the same class, in the University, or in another institution);
•    Copying any section, no matter how brief, from a book, journal, article or other written source (including the Internet), without duly acknowledging it as a

quotation;
•    Copying (from books, others’ works or the Internet) any map, diagram or tables without duly acknowledging the source; or
•    Rewording texts or using ideas of another author without duly acknowledging the source.
Whatever the form, plagiarism is unacceptable because it is both stealing (the work of another person) and cheating (the assessor by representing others work as your

own). Any instances of plagiarism can therefore be expected to draw severe penalties.
Students who ignore plagiarism by allowing their work to be copied will also be reported to the Student Affairs for disciplinary action
