Self Evaluation

This self evaluation should be between two to three typewritten pages, and will be evaluated in terms of insight, honesty, and application of course concepts, as well as grammar, spelling, and standards for written work that are detailed in the syllabus. Be sure to review the syllabus for specific document formatting guidelines.

Your Self-Evaluation should be uploaded to Blackboard by the date listed in the Course Schedule.

  1. What did you did well? Why do you think you did well on these aspects of your speech? Elaborate.
  2. Proverb: Did your audience learn something meaningful about you due to your choice of proverb? Did you relate your proverb to a personally relevant story?
  3. Quality of the narrative: How strong do you think your narrative was compared to other speeches you heard this round? Was your storytelling strong and interesting? Was your narrative easy to understand? What do you think you could do to improve the strength of your narrative? Make sure to elaborate on your answers.
  4. Language: From watching the speeches this round, how was language choice an important part of your speech’s success? Were your language choices specific, descriptive, interesting and vivid?
  5. Delivery: Please evaluate your posture, volume, vocal energy, and extemporaneous delivery. How comfortable were you while you gave your speech? What could you do to be more comfortable during your next speech?
  6. Define two goals that you have for improving your next speech. How will you achieve your goals?
