During this survey course we were introduced to many topics. Please produce a 5-7 page paper that outlines how you see your future career within the healthcare system becoming involved directly or indirectly with the broad topics that we have reviewed this semester? Specifically, but not exclusively, as your position relates to the AMA Code of Ethics, confidentiality, informed consent, medical malpractice, privacy, genetic manipulation, and end of life issues.
“A. Explain in detail the Right to Counsel found in the 6th Amendment.
B. Briefly summarize the facts, issue, holding and reasoning in Strickland v. Washington. How does Miranda v. Arizona relate to this case?
C. If you are accused of a crime, do you need an attorney? Please explain why. What are the advantages and disadvantages to having a lawyer? What does it mean to be presumed innocent until proven guilty?
Write a 3-5 page paper reviewing an actual case of medical malpractice or negligence. Describe the response to the health care organization involved in the
event- did they respond appropriately and implement appropriate changes or were there opportunities to prevent further events from occurring?
1. Start by picking a topic that is particularly interesting to you. You are encouraged to write your paper on the same topic area that you
present in class.
2. Second: for your own purposes, summarize each and every chapter assigned to that topic, not just the chapter you present in class. By taking
copious notes on the topic, you will deepen your understanding and digest the material. As you read over the topic carefully, you will surely be
stimulated by ideas that will catch your attention.
3. Third: Develop a point of view regarding the material you are reading. This should organically develop as you pour over the literature.
