The paper should be approximately 1500 words. You must use 3 scholarly sources (ie. books and/or library journal articles). No sources can predate 1975. Begin with an introduction paragraph that states thesis or argument. Finish with a conclusion paragraph that has a concession statement. Do not use contractions and limit quotes. Work must be properly cited using Chicago Manual of Style. Must include a bibliography page. Paper should explore the causes or consequences the American Civil War had on the topic of Jim Crow laws and racial segregation. Paper should explore EITHER the cause OR the consequences, not both. You may, however, include a paragraph at the end of the paper that ties one to the other.
