Zalando and how it applies to Ambidexterity, Platforms, Strategy, Information Management

This paper is a mix of Strategy and Technology. This paper seeks to explain how Zalando manages to apply ambidexterity (efficiency & innovation) at the same time. The paper seeks to combine two course parts

The first is “Strategizing Foundations of adaptive Organizations” in which i choose “Ambidexterity: Exploring & Exploiting”

The second is “Information-driven Strategies” in which i chose “Digital Platforms and how to strategize information management”.

The goal of this course IS NOT to explain the frameworks from the readings themselves, but rather apply the information we gathered from interviews documentation etc. to the models (and explain them by the practical application) and of course to show limitations. I think the frameworks that should be applied are the ones i mentioned in the Pictures.
Furthermore it is necessary to combine the two parts (ambidexterity & platforms) somehow.

The literature for the 2 Presentations (or course sessions) is included in the materials, so only a few other sources might make sense but are not mandatory.

There must be a short introduction to the case and a conclusion.

A research question could be something like this, but must be further thought of: “How is Zalando changing the fashion industry by becoming an industry leader using platforms and applying ambidexterity?”
